Default smog pump removal

okay i found that a new belt for my car to bypass the smog pump will cost me roughly 24 dollars. Is the gain from doing this actually worth it? What is the actual gain and is it noticeable?

thankx

the gain was noticeable when i pulled it off of my car, i just plugged up all the vaccuum lines and pulled that hard line off the back of the heads and pluged it as well, seems to run alright

you may get 5hp from bypassing it but the real gain is from removing the pump all together. the dead weight is more detrimental then the drag of the pulley

I had a 79 Capri and the smog pump locked up once. It will leave you walkin when it smokes the belt. Why didn`t you just get the pully replacement and use your stock belt?

remove the pump and the entire EGR system. its a good 25 lbs total. i removed mine and routed my belt as you can see from my site (if you need more help just PM). its a really easy mod and as i always say, subtracting weight is just as good as adding power. DO IT!!!

well for one, here in south florida there are no emissions tests. and if you plan on passing emissions id keep the smog system.
