differance between my 88 & 95
Some years back I had a 88 conv. & it seems that it had more power than my 95. What is the differance between the two? I have done upgrades to both identically, tune up, new injectors etc. I really like the body style of my 95, that is why I bought it. Now I have heard some negative things of the 94-95's. Any input would begreat.

The 95 has a much less forgiving ECM that doesn't take to mods as well and is more in tune for emissions.
The 88 speed density cars were about the fastest stock (except for maybe the Cobra') 5.0's, even though the convertables were a bit heavier. Your 95 is probably heavier than the 88 as well.

87-88 were the fastest followed by the 89's.
The 87-88 LX cars were lighter than the others due to smaller low back front seats.
In 89, the 5.0 LX got the heavier GT seats and a restrictive 55mm MAF meter. In 90, they got the Airbag in the steering wheel which added even more weight. The GT's were heavier still due to the seats and the ground effects, fog lamps and extra warning lamps in the dash as well as extra sensors like the low coolant sensor in the overflow bottle. The convertables are the heaviest due to chassis stiffeners and the top mechanism.
The 89 5-speed ECM seems to be the desired one. I have that one in my 88. Years ago a friend of mine totaled his 89, so I bought the MAF, ECM, intake tract and brackets for $100, then bought a conversion MAF harness and installed it.
I now need to upgrade my MAF to about 73mm along with a 70mm TB (stock is 60 on the 87-93).
The 95 may feel slower too because it has a longer wheelbase and rides better than the FOX chassis.

I test drove a 95gt the other day, and it felt like a dog comapred to my car. While rolling in firts I hammered the gas and it didn't even come close to breaking the tires free. It did look like it needed a tuneup though, but it felt way different than my fox.
i have a 95 gt with alotta bolt ons and im lovin it. its fast enough for me doing 13 flatsand it still has the looks with the conv. top. it wouldnt be as fast as a fox tho just cuz its alotheavier but overall, im a lot happier with the body style so its worth the sacrafice to me...
Im thrilled with my 95. I have 17's and at 30 mph I can put my *** end in the other lane... Then I blew my bottom end up.. lol So now I have a bored 0.40 over cammed short block Im putting together. My issue is tuning the ECM to accept my cam.. yikes..
