Install Cam, or rebuild Engine first?
I was thinking of installing a Ford E303 or B303 cam in my '92 Pony.
But, since the engine has about 142,000 miles, can it handle the cam or should I rebuild it first?

SLOW DOWN GUYS
Look a engin is not a gallon of milk , it does not have a experation date . It ant nothing nore than a cast iron pump . If you have good compression and it does not use to mutch oil ,the olny thing a rebuild will get you is OUT 1000 BUX and right whare you are now
you olny said 142 tall on the clock , that means nothing the shape of a engin is vacum and oil pressure
I sall 302 go as far as 350,000 miles and as little as 35,000 ( god damn mancennie motors) . what kind of shape is the engin in you got to figure that out by doing some basic test . Then you will know what cards you hold

I threw on ported (stock) heads, cam, Tbody, MAF and headers/h-pipe at about 110000 miles. When I popped the heads off, I could still see the crosshatch bore marks on the cylinder walls. If you dont see those, don't get a cam. My 2 cents.
just remember this everything has to coordinate in order to make any good power so maybe a rebuild w/ high performance internals and the cam you want, and don't forget you should set it up for what kind of racing or driving style you like...
