Default aod question

I just had my aod replaced with a new one with a transgo shift kit. All the gears shift firm now which is nice. I just got on it for the first time today. I beleive I was in 2nd gear. The engine reved up into the redline and the transmission delayed a second before it shifted into 3rd.Then driving home, I realized the rpms were pretty high, and I was just cruising. The transmission should have definately shifted up.

My question is, is there anything i can do to make the trans shift earlier, or should i take it back to shop that did the trans? If i take it back, is there a better way to explain this?

Yes the shop installed it.

I sure hope they set it with a pressure guage, but I cannot be completely positive.

adjusting the TV is not the big deal people make it out to be, yeas a gauge is best for the first time, but it is not essential. Adjusting it by hand is perfectly acceptible, just pull out to firm, let in to soft, drive inbetween. The way you made it sound was like when i over adjusted mine out, it shifted up firm but slammed down and held very high revs. if you do adjust it only do it in .25 to .5 inch encrements

+1

i will bet you they did not

and i will tell you i had to deal w/ the exact same thing, and inform them to set it...... my $3000 aod that was supposed to be "bulletproof" to high 11's was smoked in a 14 second car in 8 months

it took me almost a year to sue them, and settle out of court to have them rebuild a boneyard aod to stock specs and call it a day.

Hey ,
I can actually add 2 this post! I installed a trans-go kit in my sons aod,you do put a stiffer spring on the throttle valve in the valve body. i keep playing with the tv adjustment and could never get it to shift right, until i hooked up a guage and saw what was happening.the tv pressureon ours wasvery sensitive after this kit was installed. i had to keep "finessing" the adjustment to get the pressure right , even the slightest movement would send the pressures up 10-15 lbs. i had to find that "sweet spot" on the adjustment cable. I would have the pressure where i wanted, and just merely snapping the cable back onto the linkage would alter the reading out of specs. So i would reccomend adjusting with a guage , cheap insurance.
