I have a 79 Mercury Capri That I was puting a T-5 from an 88 Mustang in. Trany is in but the top of the trans is hitting the top of the trans tunnel. What am I doing wrong?

whoa...
how is your engine sitting? if the motor mounts are dead i think it might be leaning wayy too much foward. get the engine sitting level and check to see if you have the same problem. one way to check the engine level is to look at the fan, if its aligned well with the shroud.

if the tranny is flush with the bellhousing and the bellhousing is flush with the block it should all be fine

the t-5 is a bigger trans than the srod trans. take a hammer, a piece of wood, a couple of good blows and it will fit; just dont get crazy with it.

As far as i can tell the engine is sitting level. It also has different mounts though too from the newer 5.0. Maybe i need to change the engine mounts? The other thing that is wierd is the k member on this car has... well its not like all the other k members on mustangs i have had before. For instance my long tube headers wont fit.

That was my first thought too. If it ain't broke, fix it till it is. But, I would look into the whole K member and engine mount thing first if it was mine. Maybe get a friend to check it out, sometimes you miss small details if you spend too much time staring at the car.
