Elderbrock Perfomer EFI intake
I'm replacing my intake with a Elderbrock Performer 5.0, im looking low rpm power..especially since my car is street driven...it currently has the victor 5.0...which is made for high rpm engines...[&:]...it was my father's bad decision to put the victor on..lol but its really fast in high rpms but i need low rpm...all i wanna know guys is the Performer the best fit for me??...oh should i go with the GT-40 , Cobra, or trick flow...idk....i would like some input because i plan to put the intake on this thursday....my mods are ...306...peformance pistons and crankshaft..(not sure what brand)....elderbrock rpm heads..comp cam XE282...70mm TB......30# injectors....75mm MAF...bbk cold air...3.55gears

performer 5.0 is all wrong for your build.. you need the rpm II intake....I had a 306 with 185 afr's .200 dome pistons and rpm air gap intake a 650 carb and xe 282 cam....trust me you need the rpm... that cam easily makes power past 6500 and the performer is from idle to 5500..also hope those heads are the 2.02 ones

yes i have the 2.02 ones..so ur saying the Performer 5.0 wont do me any good?..a guy i know that tests mustang intakes..said the RPM would be my best bet...i heard there is really no significant difference between the RPM and RPM II....also if i probably could a hold of a GT-40 intake...would that work?

That Performer would be great for your engine.
I had it suggested to me by a pro (Ed Curtis at FTI) for my 6,000 RPM daily driver build.
It had a custom camshaft and AFR 165cc cylinder heads.
My power did not stop at 5,500 RPM by the way. It went past it...

It had a custom camshaft and AFR 165cc cylinder heads.
My power did not stop at 5,500 RPM by the way. It went past it...

Ford Mustang 5.0L EFI V8

Designed for 1986-95 Ford Mustangs with 5.0L V8, the Performer 5.0 EFI aluminum intake manifold represents the standard for hot 5.0L performance. The modular design incorporates modern air flow technology and CAD programming for maximum power gains – up to 37 horsepower at 5500 rpm – with no loss of low speed torque. Stock replacement and 50-state street legal for 1986-95 5.0L engines, the features of the new Performer 5.0 EFI manifold include: broad power range from idle to 5500 rpm; removable plenum cover that allows access to runners for modification; and base manifold is CNC port matched to upper manifold for maximum performance. The upper and plenum cover are powder-coated light titanium gray. The base is as-cast and not powder-coated. Combining the new Performer 5.0 intake manifold with other Power Package parts gives you even more power across the entire rpm range. 1994-95 Mustangs require Throttle Body Adapter #3835 and Strut Tower Brace #5225.

The Performer 5.0 RPM II manifold for 1986-95 5.0L Mustangs has shown significant gains in horsepower over existing designs in the 1500 to 6500 rpm range, and is ideally suited for street and strip applications. This manifold consists of a V-shaped crossover with an increasing crosssectional area, which passes over to eight large tapered runners. The upper manifold is powder-coated light titanium gray. Our 70mm throttle body is recommended.1994-95 Mustangs require Throttle Body Adapter #3835 and Adapter Kit #8025 (see Throttle Body Adapters), and Strut Tower Brace #5225. May not fit with stock hood of 1994-95 Mustangs, aftermarket hood recommended. 50-state street legal for 1986-95 Ford Mustangs with 5.0L V8.
With the above information from Edelbrock, I'd go with the Performer RPM II (1500-6500 rpm)

Look, anyone who tells you those intakes will work with your combo and produce maximun results is full of crap.....if that were the case I'd assume suffocate my 347 with a performer 289 intake...the performer 5.0, gt-40 and all other such comparable intakes were designed around the flow characteristics of a stock 5.0 ie cam and heads and were designed as bolt ons to stock 5.0 motors with mild mods......engines with increased air flow as a result of larger than stock cams and increased air volume flow through aftermarket heads are complemented by matched intakes.....of course you can use the performer 5.0 on your build but which end of the spectrume do you wish to harness your builds power from the min or max side??? as far as rpm vs rpm II...the rpm II replaces the rpm =old design.....no damage will occur from mismatched combos just less power.......a holley systemax intake is another good choice

If your car was dynoed?? im curious to know what ur numbers were...and rpms...your not the only one either...my father's friend had a 306 with the gt-40 intake with the comp xe and his car ran really well...and sounded ridiculous nice....i researched the gt-40 has the same rpm band as the performer...i understand i need a performer rpm for maxium performance..but im just need something right now.... for street use to replace that annoying victor..lol
