PCV system
Can anyone tell me where the PCV valve is located on a 1986 mustang, 5.0 of course. It is not in the valve cover where I thought it would be. Just purchased the car and trying to do a little preventive maitenence. It has not been driven much in the last few years.

Yes, that filter element can get dirty. I used a dentist pik to fish it out. It can be taken apart for added cleaning if youre careful. Grab a can of carb cleaner and spray the crap out of it, put it back together and put it back in. All it is is a metal cage wrapped around a formed mess of tightly packed wire.
Does anyone know if this filter before the PCV valve is missing will the engine suck oil through the PCV system?? Mine is missing and I am burning some oil, can see it out the exaust on hard excelleration.
