Default oil change + sea foam = over heating!?!?

thought i was doing a good thing for my car, but now idk whats going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so this morning i got everything together to change the oil, when it started to rain.
ran dwn to the local shop, and they changed it for me.

the oil i used is castrol syntec 5w-30, and the filter a fram high mileage

so, i had some sea foam from last week, and never got around to putting it in.

well, ive never done seafoam, but i tryed to stay to the directions.

pulled the vacuum line off my intake right behind the EGR, on the back side of the engine.

i mis-read the can, and let is suck up half of the 1pint can, real real slow, prob took 5min or a little more.
the directions say 1/3 of a pint.

well, cut the car off, shined up some of the chrome while i waited 5min.

re-started the car, fired right up, no problem, smoked for maybe 3-5min. not even real heavy like ive seen all other cars.

so once it had almost stoped, i reved it a few times, then me and my girlfriend went to meet up with her brother and get a bite to eat.

well, as i was letting the car idle, waiting for her brother to show up, i clicked on the A/C.

well prob 2min pass by, i look down at the rpm's and mention how it seems to idle better when i notice my car is 1 bar below the top mark for 270, or w/e the top temp is on a stock gadge.

cut off the a/c, killed the car, when i got back on the road, it cooled down after about 5min of driving. stoped at a fast food place, and the 5min in line for food, it shot back up again...........(a/c wasent on, so thats not it)

what could be causing this? maybe the oil's to thin?

is it the sea foam? (cars running fine, dident notice a single thing different)

all fluids are toped off, and look fine.....

i need advice, as this is a pretty serious problem.

radiator was flushed about 2mths ago, so i know the fluids fine....... ill check it tommarow, maybe its to thick, idk.

any help would be great.

thx (sry for the long read)

bad water pump, sticking thermostat, clogged radiator

I always start by changing the T-stat. go with a 180°
If that doesnt work, drain your coolant into a clean container so it can be reused, and flowtest the radiator. (put a garden hose into the top hose) If the water doesnt come pouring out the bottom, you have a clog

if both of those check out.... WP time!

Like adder said flush your rad to start with. With what he said i will also put water in the bottom of rad and cover the hole and flush it out of the top also.

thermostat was changed 4mths ago, did the oil change first, then the half can of sea foam into the vaccum, and not into the oil.

guess i can try checking the radiator, but what else could cause this? i cant think of anything

how is your fan? it sounds like your fan might be shot since you are cooling fine when you drive but not at idle

seeing as it is summer now, these kinda things will start to show up with the rising temps. but i know in my fox, i had the same problem, if i sat too long it would climb Fast and once i hit the freeway i was fine and the temp dropped. i went and pulled my radiator took it to a radiator shop and they do something to it, i believe it's something like an acid bath and mine was clogged up BAD they said. it cost me about 70 bucks and after that i naver had it heat up on me like that again. seeing as it colled off once you started driving i wouldnt say it was due to a water pump or a thermostat. the radiator, or the fan are the parts i would look at

well considering the car sat for 3+ yrs, and ive been slowly replacing EVERYTHING on it, none of these would surprize me too much.

i dont belive its the radiator, i had that flushed, about 2mths ago, idk, might have to check that out.

as far as the fan being bad.......... how do i check that?!

the radiator is an aftermarket aluminum radiator, i know nothing else about it, so i dont think its old enough to be cloged/need an "acid bath"

how do i test the water pump?
