A hypertech chip helps, and one of the biggest improvements in acceleration is installing bigger gears in the rearend.

If its bone stock take out the air intake silencer. Its worth a few HP and its free. Also bump your timming also free but you will need 93 gas so its not really free in the long run.

Cold air intake, gears, electric fan. A good first couple mods.

a great sounding exhaust i think that isn't very expensive is flowmasters. not extremely loud but sound great. Most of the cars we have in our collection have flowmasters. as for the whole package headers/etc im not quite sure

BBK longlubes (for the loudness) and BBK off-road X-pipe (for the performance) and orignal 40's flow (for sound and performance) with dumps (makes it loud and deep sounding and cheaper

Pull the air silencer in the fender and bump the timing as mentioned, put a lower temp thermostat in ( this will make the car run richer and use more gas but it also bumps the timing too), put the car on a diet. You can go as far as taking the insulation out from under the carpet but I wouldn't do it (heat and excessive road noise suck). Anything your not using take it out of the car, and don't date heavy women they slow the car down lol.

Since its a new car to you, go through the basics, lube the chassis, check tire inflation as they can cause excess friction which will slow your car down. Also better control from properly inflated tires, change the oil ( you don't know exactly when it was changed last). Change the tranny fluid, and gear lube as well. Again not so much for speed but for durability, reliability, and reduce frictional loss. You could move the battery to the rear of the car for better weight transfer, box the control arms fair cheap for better traction. Subframe connectors are another fairly cheap mod, as are poly bushings. These are more for durability or traction rather than going fast, but if you get the car to hook really well then you are using the full potential of the motor to move the car which equates to faster times.
