Just Shut Off While Driving Again !!
Hey guys I was driving my car again last night and while i was cruising down the road it just shut off again. at first the fuel pump wasnt running. then i put a jumper ire in the fuel pump relay to try to make the pump run constantly and it wouldnt start that way either. So i left it sit and got a ride. came back 2 hrs. later and and it started up and took me home. this has been an on going problem and i ran codes and all i got was a 22 bp sensor. i dont believe this is my only problem. when i got back to the house i shut it off and it woulndt start again, even after i shut it off myself. So to make a short story long, the fuel pump is puming again and i believe i either have a Bad Computer, or there is a wire some where that get hot while running and makes something stop working. the reason i think my computer is bad is because i have great spark, but no fuel. and doesnt the computer controll all of that. Woulndt it let my injectors open up and recieve fuel. Or could this be by some crazy chance, an ignition switch. It will turn over and crank just wont start. I keep wanting to say its the computer and i replaced everything electronic on this thing including the pick up assembly, and the controll mod. Please give me some assistance onthis on going problem. I cant get 15 min down the road w/ this car.
if it is a fuel issue and you for sure have spark when it shuts off...then you need to troubleshoot the wiring on the fuel pump circuit.. the fp relay recieves a ground from the ecm to power up pump in koeo mode briefly and removes ground if no PIP signal is seen from the stator in the dizzy through which the tfi module amplifies and sends it to the ecm as an input for the ecm to interpret and perform an output command by applying ground to fp relay...you need to check all components in the system and you need a wiring diagram and go point to point..I doubt you have a computer prob.. sounds like an intermitent open circuit in a component such as a relay that when it cools the circuit closes back up making a connection again
I had to have my daily driver towed 3 times before breaking down and replacing the pump. I was sure it was not the pump because it would work great for a period of time, but finally came to the conclusion that the pump was getting hot and failing. Since replacing it, no problems.... just my 2 cents.
the pump will sometimes start again after it cools down. a thwack with a hammer on the gas tankcan get it started to sometimes. not always. i had a fuel pump go on one of the company trucks where i used to work. it was a chevy.one of us banged on the tank while the other cranked, and it still wouldn't start. over 2 hours later waiting for the tow truck it still wouldn't start.
