Default wow...orange headers

I've got bbk chrome equal lengths, with a 347, what would cause the headers to turn orange? car ran for a whole 5-10 minutes, coolant was around 150 or 160. Only thing different than last time we put it in was that i misplaced my oil pump and bought a high volume melling. other than that its the same. I was thinking the timing being off would cause it but my dad says it was right at 12*. I have no intentions of fixing it, tomorrow i'm going to take it to livernois and have them deal with it and tune it. Just wondered what would cause this?

why not at least check it out? maybe you got the plug wires wrong, doubble check the way you have it wired. and how did your dad check the timing? maybe the dist is stabbed wrong. check it out first before you spend money to have someone else "deal with it"

well obviously the car runs lean since thats why it went last time. but the headers never glowed before. could be vacuum, I've only got like 3 hoses plugged into the intake, but its the same hoses as before. and yeah the balancer has 3 sets of marks on it. what i did was just set it at tdc then when it started i used the closest set of numbers to time it, did this last time too and it ran decent. I'll check it over a little but in 1/2 hour my rides coming to load the car on a trailer. hopefully this isn't too expensive.
