do you have to lift the engine to change the oil pan gasket

the oil gasket probably not but if you change the pan itself then yeah you do.

dont bother trying with the engine in the car its a waste of your time
i just did mine
i wasted like 3 weeks trying in the car..... pure headache just lift it out its a really easy motor to take out i labled everything and it went back together ina saturday

you can jack motor up and and pull pan down enough and cover inside of pan and clean gasket surfaces andinstall new gasket and place pan back in place

putting on gasket...yes
putting in all new rod and main bearings...no
that was a poor decision on my part. i will NEVER do it that way again

las thing u want is a leak!!
i would jus take tha motor but im not as gifted as sum i guess lol
