SUGGESTIONS PLEASE
Hi. I'm ready to start doing some upgrades on my 93 GT this winter finally! It's bone stock except for exhaust, gears and CAI. The motor only has 65K on it and it is very healthy, passes emissions, no major leaks. I was considering doing a simple heads, cam and intake since I already have a new Edelbrock Performer upper/lower manifold at home. Or I was thinking about getting a Vortech or Procharger. I would like to have it run 12's easily until I decide to upgrade some more. I don't want to do nitrous yet! Just a simple street/strip car is what Im looking for. Thanks for your help
Do some suspension work to get a good base to get the power to the ground. Subframe connectors, springs and struts and shocks will give you a good start. As for the motor it kinda depends on what your budget is. If you car low on funds you can get some GT40 heads from the junk yard for cheap (bought mine for $100) and have them rebuilt and get a port/polish job. They have gotten many people into the 12's. Thumper does some great work from what I hear with those heads.
The only suspension work I have done are summit upper and lower control arms. I used to have BBK 1.5 inch lowering springs progressive rate when I had my pony rims. I did a 5 lug conversion last summer with SN95 front spindles and my tires were rubbing the front fenders and rubbing the rear fenders with my 275/45/17 drag radials so I switched the springs back to the stockers for now. I don't know of anyone else who did this conversion with these spindles and how much, which loweringsprings they used if they lowered their car. I would really like to get some springs again just dont know which ones. I'll keep an eye out for some GT40 heads at the junkyard. Is there a specific year of vehicle I can get these from and it will be a direct swap to my car?
