Default Something loose in fuel tank

I removed the fuel tank from my 88 and removed the pump and the sending unit fromthe tank. Inthe process of emptying the fuel something inside the tank came loose.Looks like somekind of resevoir but not sure and not sure how to get it back where itshould go.Any information is appreciated.

if its what i think it is its where the pump and sending unit sit so it will be accurate

It's the anti slosh tray. If it's loose in there, you're gonna have problems.

It's the baffle. Don't try and get it in the right place. Mine broke loose once while still in the car and managed to destroy the pump screen and eventually the pump from filling up with dirt/sand.

Like mjr said, you need a new tank.

What the? I bought a car froma friend and it has the same issue...when I push the car side to side you can hear something in the tank....I called him and asked wtf? He said when he put a pump in it he found the previous owner smashed into something and dented the tank...so he pounded it out. And made that noise eversince he put it back together....he said it looked likea bar thing that broke loose inside...thought nothing of it? Does it matter if you have the sock on the pump?

Yeah the pump screen is what got destroyed from the baffle being loose on my car.The dirt in the gas tank destroyed the pump because the filter was ripped open.
