Front Spring Install Help
I am installing a set of 4 cyl front springs. The previous owner just cut the stock springs way too much. The only compressor I can find here is the ones that go up through the center. I have the stabilizer bar, rotor, and strut off, so there's nothing in the way.
But we cant seem to get the d*mn bottom of the new spring to quit go in. It lakes about a 1/4 inch. WE have tryed pry bars and everything. No luck.
Anybody have a secret to getting these damn things in?

RE: Front Spring Install Help
I installed my H&R springs in and the front is a pain. I ended up using a spring compressor that goes up through the center of the spring and has hooks at the top with a piece that slides in at the bolt head. (Rental from Autozone). Once the spring is in,raie the a-frame up with a jackbut be careful not to put the jack under the spring perch. Put it below the ball joint. Once the a-frame is up, begin backing the bolt out of the compressor. Here is the trick..I pulled the bolt of the spring compressor completely out leaving the hooks and the bottom slide in piece in place. Then drop the jack back down and pull the rest of the compressor out. Youwill have to fish the hooks out between the coils. The spring will stay in even though you have dropped the a-frame again. I took me about 45 minutes on one side and the second I did it quicker.
I am sure there is an easier way, but this worked for me with whatI had. Just be careful!

RE: Front Spring Install Help
Sounds like you have it pretty close to going in... try putting the spring in the bottom perch first, jack the control arm up andthen pry the top of the spring in. That should bea little easier than trying to pry it into the bottom perch. If you still can't get it, you may have to get the "up the middle of the spring" compressor as suggested by IN2FORD... that's the type I've always used and have had no problems.
