what is the correct way to reset the computer?

Disconnect the negative battery cable and leave it off for about 15 minutes.

Ive heard disconnect the battery for at least 30 minutes.

What ever the time is, just take it off (I let mine sit for about 15 min then forgot about it and came back an hour later...I think it reset).

just for a good time, 15 minutes is just fine if you don't think so let it sit for 30.
