RE: help!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sounds like you hook up the wires wrong or shorted something out.
Check fuses and the battery. The battery may be dead or damaged now.
Whatever wires you disconnected during the install, you sure you put them back right?

RE: help!!!!!!!!!!!!
hot cables indicate high resistance not a short...check all your ground connections are tight and clean od any corrossion and it could just be a bad cable..if you have an ohm meter you can measure the cables resistance

RE: help!!!!!!!!!!!!
then what you need to do is perform voltage drop tests cause there is a component somewhere that across a connection has high resistance causing excessive current draw casusing the wires so heat up...whether it be in the contacts across the starter selonoid or down on the starter stud... avoltage drop will tell you where the prob is.......this is assuming that the battery is good...turn on the lights and see if they are bright and the system can sustain a load without making them go dim
