Default Mirror Dissasembly

My car has really raggy nasty looking mirror housings and i want to paint them. I figured out how to get the mirrors off of the doors, but i can't figure out how to get the mirror guts out of the housing. Anyone have a helpful hint for me? Thank ya!

there's a couple of screws (3 i think) behind the mirror. you have to angle the mirror to one side, and then you should be able to squeeze a screwdriver in there.

that is a pretty paintjob you got on that thing.

Which side of the mirror? inside (closer to the interior) or outside?
