Default Pushrod Length

I have two engines in my garage. One is a 306 with an anderson b-41 cam and trickflow twisted wedge heads. The other is a 302 with a TFS1 cam and GT-40 heads (explorer heads). The 302 is currently in a car, while the 306 is not. I was in the process of taking the aluminum heads off the 306 and putting them on the 302. Well, the explorer heads had pedistal (sp?) mount non-roller rockers, while the TFS heads have stud mount roller rockers. And here is where the problem lies. The pushrods from the 306 are about 1/4" longer than the pushrods on the 302. I dont know which pushrods to use with the head swap. Thanks for your help.

Default RE: Pushrod Length

the area on the trick flow head where the rocker stud threads in is a half inch higher than stock. the stock pushrod length is something like 6.27 in and trick flow recommends using a pushrod within .05 of 6.75 inches. so 6.70 6.75 or 6.80. but you shouldalways check your geometry before running engine. but to answer your question i would use the longer pushrod if you knew the 306 ran good with the twisted wedge heads.

cam determines pushrod length, bigger lift means longer rod needed...cant use a stock rod on perf cams usually cuz there to short..my 512 lift rods are longer then stock

it does not......deck height and cylinder head height and construction are what will...as valve geometry is measured on the base circle of the cam/ flat side not peak......anyway use the push rods for the trickflow set up that were used with the trick flow heads

I rather look at the picture, because what your saying is 100% wrong
