Default Need Help With Idle

So i have an 86 gt ive posted about a surging idle before with no results....so i noticed a few days ago that aslong as the clutch is engaged the idle is perfectly fine, but the second you let the clutch out the idle begins to surge, does this mean anything? could the timing be out of wack?? and or the timing chain and gear? i hate that more than anything in the car im determined to fix it

You may want to check this vid.... if you have a code 67 failure that can only be corrected when the clutch pedal is engaged (=gear switch is faulty)...... you will have idle control problems.

mine does the same thing, but only 4-5 times when i start it for the first time in the morning. The rest of the time, the tach drops to low rpms when at idle...

is this similar?

I am guesing this thread is dead... So i'll start it back up! On my 90GT w/ T5 I'm getting a code 67 during KOEO with the trans in nuetral. I am almost 100% positive my clutch switch is ok because I can not start my car without depressing the pedal. A little background: Bad idle at a stop, but seems ok at a roll. Holding in the clutch pedal and sometimes pumping the brakes will help smooth it out. Thanks.

The clutch switch assy. is a dual switch unit, one for starter control and one to "inform" the ECM. You could have a problem with the ECM half, and still only be able to start the car while pressing the clutch pedal.

If you run a KOEO self test while keeping the clutch pedal down, and code 67 is a no show, the problem is with the gear switch on the T5.....

This might be a dumb question. but where does the wiring for the trans mounted switch go? Does it run into the car's cabin or does it run into the engine department?

Engine compartment..... it shares the 8-pin connector with the O2's wiring.

I have a code 67. I believe my trans. switch is good. If I white connector of the clutch switch at the pedal, the car will not crank. If I jump the contacts on the connector, the car starts fine, but causes a the rolling or surging idle issue.

Does it matter which slot in the switch the black and while connectors are plugged into?
