i have a 88 mustang long tube headers speed density put on a edlebrock intake and after it had a high idle and now it started smoking misssing and backfireing the timing is correct and plugs and wires are good any ideas on what could be the problem

 

What color is the smoke? black? white? does it have a sweet smell(not joking)?

 

its white smoke smells like unburned gas it smokes worst when im on the gas

 

check tune up componets like a possible bad cap , rotor and or coil, if misfire is occuring, hard to guess on the smoke without seeing a video to evaluate exactly it is that you are seeing
