New here, looking for some help
Hey guys, i have a 86 Mercury capri. Im in the process of upgrading EVERYTHING>
The list tells most of it
Rims
Motor
Transmission
Rear end
Exhaust
Hood
Paint
Power locks and Security
Roll Cage???
Rear seat Delete
RS front Bumper
Suspension (lowered)
4 Wheel Disc Braking System
Battery relocated
K member
Sub frame connectors
Gauges
So that stuff is some of the stuff i wanted to get.. Now the big question is, i know tons of motors will fit inside this little thing, but what motor would be the best. Theres the 3.8liter, 5.0, 351 C/W, 460..etc.. I want a motor that would be a street car, i may take it to the track a couple times, but i want a badass cruisin motor. I heard the 5.0s are a really good motor to build on, but i kinda want something a little bigger, but if enough ppl on here say its a really good motor to build on, well looks like i need to find that 5.0 out there.. thanks alot guys.. help on any of the above items i want would be greatly appreciated. Looking for around 400-600 HP on 94 octane.. thanks

What kind of budget are you working on? Are you looking for a crate motor or something that will have to be torn down and rebuilt from teh ground up? Best bet would be getting a 302(5.0) motor. That way if you do a tune up you can get to the spark plugs easily a 351 might be tight, but dont realy know on that. You can always bore out the 302 to something bigger, Max would be a 347. With the 302 you will have lots of choices of boltons. Also I believe you have more torq with the 302 motors than the 351.
Well, budget isnt really a big problem here, since ill be working it off and ill be making payments. But im not looking to spend over 5 grand on just the motor. Crate motor or just a local 5.0 find would be the same... My brother put together a whole 400 pontiac motor and after all his hard work and money spent into it, i think id rather just buy a crate motor, so then i dont have to do all that crazy bullspit stuff to it. I found tons of crate motor places, but im still never to sure about them. Now, about that 347, is that a stroker? And if so, i heard strokers can be bad on your engine ? : / i have no idea im just asking you guys tho. something with the pistons wear on the walls of the cylinders.. idk.. but does anyone have a stroker on here? are they good? any defects?? thanks
haha yea i have a 3.8 in it now.. lol.. main reason im trying to get that out asap. lol.. but yea, i havnt been reading to much on these threads people have started, but what horse power do the roller 351s and stroker 302s put out about?? thanks
so let me get this straight... because I think you are looking at this whole deal wrong..
you dont want to spend $5000 on the motor... dont want to build it yourself... but you want 400-600hp.
LMAO... What are you smoking... because I would sure like some!
