Default Problem/question

Came home from work today in my 92 5.0 I hardly drive. Tried to start it and noticed she would turn over but not run. She was running close to E that day so I filled her up on 92 pump gas. Still not firing up. Occasionally she would fully crank but immediately turn back off. So assuming its the fuel pump I may purchase a new one and slap it in. Now if it is the fuel pump. I am expecting to purchase a supercharger sometime next year. And will need a performance fuel pump. If I buy A performance fuel pump and throw it into a completely stock car will I run into issues?

Yes, buy a 255 high volume and no it won't hurt your stock set up now.

Thanks. Hopefully I'm right about the fuel pump. But it is the only explanation to why a car would work...then not 5 minutes later

Do you hear the pump come on when you turn on the key? You should hear it whining. If it's not it's shot. Hope you figure it out.

Surly I don't. I d her the electronic clicking, which is the starter engaging I'm guessing....And of course when It does fire up its only when I spray starter fluid into the intake. Either the starter pump or relay imo.

If you don't hear the whining I would almost guarentee it's the pump.

Yea surly. She's a sweet ride and I just got her. I do have an dumb question though. The fuel pump is located in the tank right? I was informed by a friend that the fuel pumps on most stangs are located in locations you would not expect. I never actually took the time to jump under the hood to get used to the guts of my car.

Here is what you need to know to change the pump.

I have heard they are easy to change but I haven't done it myself in the Fox. First you will want to drain the fuel tank. Then disconnect the battery, then drop the fuel tank, it has 2 bolts, 14mm? Not sure. Disconnect the lines, the power plug, then turn the metal ring that holds down the fuel pump assembly and carefully take out the fuel pump assembly. It has a positive and negative wire that goes to the pump, unscrew them, and then the pressure hose that goes to the pump. That should be it. Install in reverse order. As I said I haven't done it, just what I have been told.

Where is the fuse box By the way? I want to check the fuel pump relay before I do anything.
