I picked up a brand new B&M shift kit that comes with a pan gasket and tranny filter all for $32.00. How hard is it to install, how long will it take me and what are the hardest parts to do?

you didnt get a shift kit you got a shift improver kit. B&M kits arent as good quailty as Transgo, remember you get waht you pay for and you just bascially got a new filter and gasket. think about it filter and gaskets cost 12 bucks or so. so do you really think you got a great deal for 32 bucks???

those kits dont have much involvement at all.....you probably can get yoru car to shift better with adjusting the TV cable then that kit

Okay then why are these kits $89.99 brand new? How does it change you're shifting different from a shift kit??? I trust B&M because they have been around for a while and they definantely aren't bad.

Okay I looked at summit and the kit BM-40227 is NOT a shift improver kit, it is the actual shift kit. I will have full manual manual control over downshift now with snappier shifts and raised shift points. I see nothing wrong with this kit... Back to the original question, has anyone done a kit like this before.

Alright, well, the auction was on ebay and someone had bid me out by 1.00$ at the last second [:@]. I think I'm going to wait to get the 3.73s before I get the shift kit. Thanks for all of the help, now I have another question, I'll be doing this with my dad and he has some common knowledge about rear ends. Will I be able to do the 3.73s at home, or should I have someone else that knows exactly what they are doing install the gears?

anybody can install gears. you can even run them without checking but it will lead to premature wear. and arent you the one that was interested in my Transgo installed VB?

installing a full kit isn't so easy....it is easier out on the car ..but you have check ***** and spring to keep track of while laying on the ground

rear end gears arnt hard to install really, but getting them to be spaced and lines up right like there supposed thats a little tricky, its better off if u pay the $300 or what ever it cost to get them done
