I have always bumped up the timing on all of my .0 it should run better as long as you use the 93 Amoco Ultimate gas that's the one I found my 5.0 run better with.

i run 13* base on 89 octane and i picked up 10 ponies on the dyno going from 10* up to 13*. so you should feel a difference.

depends what kind of car you're building as far as what intake you should get. but if you're getting gt40 heads just get the gt40 tube intake and you'd have a decent street machine with a nice cam.

bump the timing uo to 13 or 14 with super unleaded...with the GT40 heads, I like the Ford Racing parts, so a Cobra intake or maybe you can find a GT 40 tublar intake used....

I have mine set at 14* w/ 91 octane. I recently turned it down to 10 b/c of gas prices and it felt soooo slow, so I bumped in back to 14. Stock 5.0's are too slow, so adavanced timing is a must IMO.

i did the same with my old 88 when i got it. as well as my 95.
however on my 83 i had to back the timing down to about 4* base because the vac advance was pulling too much and my carb runs better with the low timing.
but as far as efi go with 13-14*

the timming you can bump to 12*-14* depending on your octane. I run 12* on 87 octan b.c of gas prices but when i go to the track and what not I put it at 14* on 93 octane and see a nice Seat of the pants feel from it.

if u want GT40 heads just get urself an Explorer intake or a Tubular GT40 if you can find one at a decent price.

Octane boost is garbage. You save more money buying the higher grade. When my 86 still had the stock engine I ran 13* of base timing. With the 347...still at 13*.
