Default MAC Headers....

Is there anyone using these on here? How was the fit-up and the installation?

I'm not a fan of Mac products, but the headers bolt up fine...I like Hooker or the JBA's...

Maybe I should have been a little clearer in my first post.
The car is an '84 and I want to use 'long tube' type headers on it with a C-4 trans.
BTW, I've used Hooker headers for years but go into sticker shock at $500+ a set.......

My friend and I installed a pair of Mac's on his oddball V6 F-150. It was the biggest pain. The header flange would not line up with the Y-Pipe. We finally got everything to work. However, it is a super tight fit. It pushed his exhaust up. Now it rattles down low on the RPM. Although I have not used Mac's on my car(BBK), this experience has given me a negative effect on the Mac's.

Mac's are not the best brand of headers from what I have heard. I do have their h pipe and catback system and it bolted right up with no problems to stock EFI headers. I would go with FRPP shorties or BBK's headers short or long tubes. With the c4 you have to be sure you are using the small bellhousing setup. otherwise you will run into problems. If you don't know, you have a 157 tooth flexplate you have the small, its its the 164 tooth then its the large. You will also have to come up from the bottom to install them from what I have heard or unbolt the mounts and raise the engine out of the bay some to slip them in.

I have some Mac shortie headers and well, they sorta suck. Below 2k rpms there's a vibration noise from the headers themselves, everything is bolted properly and nothing can be readjusted to remove the rattling, its just the headers style. Ive had hooker and by far can recommend those over Mac headers, but like you said the price is quite a bit higher.
(i wish i still had my hookers but that car is no more...)

I'm not happy to hear MAC's bad rep. They're the only one I've found so far that has a 3" tip that's part of the over-axle pipe (doesn't clamp onto the o-a 2.5" pipe). I don't like the look of the clamp-on tip behind the wheel. Especially w/ the crappy Pypes - got what I paid for.

What about fitment with MAC headers (u-e shorties), O-R H, and cat-back w/ 3" tailpipes?

Does anyone else make the tailpipes I want?
