Hey can someone explain the difference between a 31 spline and 35 and stock axel? I keep seeing people post about it but I have no idea why their so good and what the difference is?

 

35 splines on the axle shaft ...mean bigger shaft and stronger,,,,

 

^^^^ pretty much. its just the number of teeth on the axle.

 

Does it make your wheels spin faster because of the number of teeth or size?

 

If your asking if the spline has anything to do with the gear ratio then no it does not. The spline of the axle only relates to the number of teeth on it, think about the number of teeth that are on a stock axle(28 spline).Now, with the same size and pitch spline the only way you could add more teeth is to physicaly make the axle dimensionaly bigger (diameter size). If you start with a stock rear end and you go with say, 31 spline axles you will then need to get the corresponding carrier as well.

the bigger the number, the stronger it is. has nothing to do with gear ratio or performance. changing your axles wont get you any more power, its just a strength thing

 

by making it bigger do you mean going from a 8.8 up or ?

 

no, u keep stock rear end. that is the size of the ring gear. this ONLY has to do witht he size of the splines on the axle

 

see the ends of the axles. thsoe are the teeth, on mine there are 31 of them because they are 31spline axles. i have an auburn posi for 31 spline axles also, ALL waiting to go in
