whos got the info on MAFs and tuning?

ill be honest i won $300 on a scratch off ticket the other day, and would like to get something for the car. I started looking at MAF's but coming to the conclusion that with stock H/C/I it wont do a whole lot except look shiny when im changing oil. Is it worth it? Also what about having a tune made up, im very close to crazy horse racing in perth amboy NJ and it would probablly get done there, but same question with stock H/C/I and bolt ons is it worth it? I was looking at the C&L 73mm but its really only a 356cfm difference doesnt seem a whole lot to me. like i said i did win it so its not really coming out of my pocket, but i dont wanna waist it.
Stock 5.0L 58MM (89-93 Mustangs) 606 CFM
Stock 5.0L 70MM (94-95 GT/Cobra Mustangs) 815 CFM
Pro-M Bullet (75MM) 964 CFM
Ford 80MM (Lightnings) 1017 CFM
C&L 73MM 1171 CFM
Modified 80MM (Flow Bar Removed) 1368 CFM
C&L 80MM 1415 CFM
Pro-M 77MM (Shorty/Supercharged Version) 1543 CFM
Pro-M 77MM (Standard Version) 1562 CFM
Pro-M 83MM 1598 CFM
Pro-M 80MM 1612 CFM

put the money in the bank or spend it on something else. your not going to be getting any noticable gains from it. and with a stock motor your not going to see much of anything out of a dyno tuned.

If you want to do a MAF change at this point, the best one for you would be the 94-95 Mustang MAF.

If you want more details on it just ask...
But it is a pretty straight forward swap.

BTW
CFM ratings are kinda bogus for the MAF...

ok, im asking. im not sure what you mean buy using a 94-95 MAF. my car is a 95 but im open to learn more. thanks for the replies

Id say buy something else.. there are many better mods that should yield more than that for that money. Buy some springs or CAs and subframes

zippo2341 11-29-2008 07:23 PM

do subframe connectors make a difference? i do drive this car daily to collage and work so will affect comfort at all? idk if it will make a difference or not but the body has currentlly at 86,xxx.

lol
I missed that your car was a 95.... you already have the 70mm MAF.
Until you get into the H/C/I, your stock MAF should be fine.

Not sure what you could do for ~ $300...

you need a maf housing out of a 94/95. Maybe the sensor too, i don't think you'd need anything more than that.

That will work with the stock injectors no tune??
