Default missing power

Ok, heres the thing, I have been reading people talk about upgrades to engines from the factory and getting some good numbers out of them. So I went out and rebuilt my 302 to a 306 using only the stock block and crank. All new pistons, rods, ect. Ran an e303 cam, 1.7 rockers. I had my heads punched to 1.90/1.60. I upgraded my transmission to a tko trans w/ a centerforce clutch. And i also replaced my gears to 4.10. The car idle's at 900 very well, but when i mash the gas, it throw me in the back seat like i planned on it doing. I don't think that i have everything set up right. Do i need to upgrade my fuel system? What about mass air? heads? Intake? Ignition? The car feels right, but it also feels like it is choking. What do you guys think?

Its a 1987 GT. It still has speed density, but i am working on switching it to mass air. I raced a bone stock 93 and lost, so i know that their is something majorly wrong here. Thanks

your speed density might be having trouble adjusting. also running that cam and 1.7 rockers might have lost a lot of lowend torque. get your lower intake ported or get an aftermarket intake, a 70mm tb and try again. you really want to convert to mass air with all those mods though. or go carb.

When is a good time to replace my fuel pump/injectore with something stronger? Also what about my ignition? Is the stock enough?

you'd be doin urself a huge favor by upgrading the ignition to an MSD, things like cams and boring over the engine wont get their full potential unless you get new plugs, wires, and injectors.... that and a better fuel pump and larger t/b will help out alot, the engine needs to have equal flow... the better the spark and fuel delivery the more power u'll gain

SO, would like...

255lb/per hour fuel pump
24lb injectors
msd ignition
9mm wires

be the ticket?

What about a gt40, cobra, trickflow intake?

with the E cam you should convert to mass air bc it says in the spec only for mass air cars unless you do a awesome tune to the car but it jsut easier to convert. The MSD is a very good ignition system and a 155 fuel will be fine for you with the MSD super conducter wires and cap and rotor and a blaster coil and 6AL will finish the ignition and 24's will be good but get an AFPR with a gauge and get a dyno tune afterwards. i reccomond the GT40, Edelbrock performer, or the trickflow intake for you

70mm tb, 75 mm mass air. underdrive pulleys will give you a couple hp too.
