Default Engine ??

I found a 306 short block (with 15K on it) and a set of AFR 165's (brand New) with a custom ground cam (brand new) and some other goodies. Im picking it all up tomorrow but i have one question..

I have an engine stand to mount the 306 to but what are the dimentions of the bell housing bolts i will need to mount the engine to the stand??? I will need longer bolts than the stock ones right??? I want to show up with my ducks in a row so i can mount it up and be on my way!

Your help is very much appreciated.

Thank you,

Bob

I use old head bolts to mount mine to the stand.

A few flaws in your plan. I hear you say " Mount it in the stand and be on your way" You really don't want to be riding down the road with a engine on an engine stand unles it's a huge 4 leg and then you better tie it down really well. The best way to transport and engine other than having it put on a pallet and straped down is to use and old tire and place the tire in the back of your truck/Van and let it rest in it. I have a 235/75/15 I use for that vey thing. Crude but safe

Ratched strapping it in the back of my truck is not a good idea? Its only a short block, the heads are still new in the boxes etc. I was going to mount it on the stand and shrink wrap the crap out of it so no road salt or grime gets in there. Its only 5-10 minutes away from my house and its an easy drive.

not a good idea at all... the stand will be VERY top heavy and can come crashing through your back window... you realy are better off finding an old tire somewhere to toss in the bed

thats how I transport engines too
