Default good setup for a 331

hey, i have some quick questions, were getting ready to buy a new top end for the 331 for the hotrod, and was wondering a couple of things

For the heads were looking at AFR 185 outlaws (emmissions exempt FTMFW) and was wondering, with the scat 331 kit, would it be living dangerously to go with the 58cc combustion chambers, or should we go with the 60, i realize that theres not much of a difference, but still, id rather not detonate it.

second, is the E303 that we have already have in it gonna be good for this engine (with AFR's and a tunnel ram) would 1.7s work/make it more suited to the motor? also, what brand rockers to get?

thanks guys

331, afr 185's, tunnel ram and E303? Dude, seriously step back. Unless your trying to build a dog, lose that tunnel ram and cam. 58cc head on a flat top 331, with .041 gasket, 4.100 firewire and 0 deck is 10:1.

I have 58 cc afr's and flat top woody 347......and run pump gas, but do as woody states, stroker= no e-cam ever, nor tunnel ram, for a stroker at least run an rpm air gap and better yet a victor paired with a cam designed for combo.

the tunnel ram is more for look than function (1931 model a, it needs a giant intake, lol)

okay, we were just wondering if it would suffice, any ideas on what cams would benifit the motor without raping the wallet?

i was looking at the summitracing tunnelram/carb combo, it came with 2 450's

however james (Funds) wants to build it a bit cheaper, so were gonna go with what MJR said and run with an Air gap.

Woodsy, what carb would you recommend, i personally like holleys, but im not sure whats best, also, 650cfm or 600?

you can run an air gap and have decent results but the victor would be ideal for a stroker, the only reason I run an air gap is for hood clearance and also mine has had every angle worked over as far as porting goes to the max

NO 650 WAS TO SMALL for my 347, i actually am in the process of a custom cam swap , highly ported rpm air gap and a race 750 carb capable of flowing 830 cfm.......if you choose to run a single plane intake, you'd want the victor, but best choice for cam would have a custom one designed, unless someone can recommend a decent ots one..........the air gap will work okay on a stroker but if you choose that route I'd port it
