Default what heads to go with now! just switched to carb

well i just swapped my engine to carb i got a 670 avenger and a rpm intake, with all msd ignition, and i have a holley cam in there with .509 lift out of the systemax kit, so my heads i had are garbage now so should i go with some patriot heads or edelbrock rpm heads for the price?

Cam specs are, or Holley cam part number is?

TFS heads would be a better choice regardless..... IMHO that is.

cam specs are advertised Duration (degrees) 276 280
Duration @ 0.050” (degrees 221 223
Valve Lift (inches) 0.509 0.509
Lobe Separation Angle (degrees) 112
Opens (degrees) 3.5 BTDC 48.5 BBDC
Closes (degrees) 37.5 ABDC -5.5 ATDC

so you think afr or tfs over the edelbrock rpm heads for sure eh?

definately, I'd go either 185 afr's or tfs "fast as cast" heads.......both will support a few different build expecially if you wanna stroke it later on

The edelbrock head is an "ok" head but isn't all that but with the cam and intake set-up would work fine. For the same money you can get into a TrickFlow head that is a much better design. If you plan on sticking with your cubic inch, cam and induction I think the AFR 165's would do great as well. If you plan on putting some extra stroke to it in the near future I would move into a larger head such as the AFR 185 or 190 TrickFlow. The Edelbrock RPM eXtreme is a super head but for the kind of money they go for there are better options. I'd also advise you to skip the Patriot heads.

dude just stick with the heads I assume you have the edelbrock heads now.......hell you could put 2-400 into them and come out as good as spending 1200 on a set of TFS heads....

wouldnt trickflows be better if he plans to stroke it later? I thought they had more meat on them than afrs so they could be ported later to take advantage of the large displancment.

correct you see trickflows on street cars and 8-9sec drag cars. it just depends on how deep your pockets are
