Default Engine Identification HELP

I am looking at buying my friends motor to do a 351 swap in my Mustang. He was told it was a 351W but it has a 289 edelbrock intake on it for some reason. I have been trying to find a website to cross reference the engine numbers, but I cant determine if it is a 351, a 289, a 302 etc. The last website I was on came up as a Galaxie number code, but a date of 1980. i don't know if I misread the code online, or what the issue is. The numbers are as follows. (E0AE D3C 4) on the block. and on the stamped tag I think it reads (3D26). If anyone can help me straighten this out, it would be much appreciated.

If it has an Edelbrock "289" intake, the block is an 8.2" deck (260-302). A 351 has a 9.2-9.5" deck (depending on the year) and an 8.2" deck intake will not fit, it wouldn't even bolt up. So what you are looking at without running the numbers is a 260-302 block with a 8.2 deck.

Based on the number you provided the block was cast in 1980. It is either a 255 or a 302. What is a 255?..... In 1980, a need to meet EPA CAFE standards led to the creation of the 255 cu in (4.2 L), essentially a 302 with 3.68" bore. Rated power (SAE net) was 115-122 hp, depending on year and application. Cylinder heads used smaller combustion chambers and smaller valves and the intake ports were ovals whereas the others were rectangular. Ford discontinued production of the 255 in 1982.

Hope this helps.
