no hardened seats here i dont drive it that much and a little bit of trans fluid in the gas tank will keep them lubcriated or leaded additive. no need for hardened seats for as little as it gets driven. and by the time i get done with this build and want to change the heads will be sold. also with the larger valves im installing you cant have hardened seats as well. they done fit without extensive machine work.

trans fluid in the gas sounds like a good concept, kinda like little tranny fluid in your oil b4 a change helps clean the valves, passages etc etc because of the detergent additives. but the thought of reducing you're octane crosses my mind as well as other contamination issues. let me know what you think cause my friends has some old heads that he wants to bolt on that are non-hardened seats.

the builder i talke to use to race 289's back when it was leaded and into when it was unleaded. he says if you are putting less that 5k miles on the car a year you'll never have an issue with the seats. he also stated that you run transfluid, not the merc or dex, he told me some fluid that should be used that has hardly any additives to it and do a great job lubricating heads between oil changes(3-5k miles) and if you dont do that he said there is another leaded additive you should do once a month and that will prevent pitting in the seats.

but yea i'll let you know how it works out
