89 GT passenger window only goes up from driver side control. Checked and replaced switches on pass. door. removed motor from door and tested with power it goes up & down but when i reinstall nothing. I have power to the switches but for some reason the switch on pass. door will not work.

 

was the switch you replaced it with on the passanger door a brand new switch or used??

look for a broken wire between the switch and the motor or bad connection

 

from the drivers side door the passenger window only goes up not down. replaced motor and still same. could it be the big metal arm with the gear teeth on the end?

 

try replacing the drivers side switch. The windows use a 5-wire system which means the switches do the work that relays normally would in a master-slave combination. When a connection is lost on either of the switches, the master switch will normally work in one direction while the slave looses all control. So you could have a bad connection in the drivers side switch that would cause the passenger side to stop working, while being perfectly good. its kind of a confusing system to get to know.

 

tried replacing the drivers side switch(brand new switch) now it does not even go down anymore.is there any other ground or something i"m missing? I tested the power from the switch to the motors on both doors with an external power source and they work fine, when i hooked the pass side motor back up it only goes up with the pass side switch.
