Default Power Steering Pump

Trying to decide if I should replace the power steering pump on my '93 GT. This is a donor motor with about 90k miles on it. I have NO idea of the working condition of this pump prior. The pump has been drained. It's got this real thick black as black can be fluid running out of it. Not the cleanest inside from what I can tell.

Are these p/s pumps resilent? Or is it just best to replace it while I am replacing many other items. If replace it, how do you remove the pump from the bracket? I assume the pulley has to be pulled off first??

Honestly I would try to flush it and run it, worst is that it leaks or whines. But the power steering pump is an easy swap.

Thanks, I agree - I'll replace it. I believe that the pulley needs to be removed in order to access the bolts to remove/install the pump. Will AutoZone or Napa do this for me if I buy the pump from them?

Unfortunately there are no holes in the pulley to access the bolts. I can access a wrench going through the side, but the little clearence from the head of the bolt to the back of the pulley will not allow removal. I think the pulley has to come off.

Anyone know if AutoZone or Napa, etc offers this service?
