Default Valve Spring Decision

I am going to be ordering the Lunati Bracket Master II cam here in the next couple of days and I am trying to decide what valve springs to get when the next check comes in. http://summitracing.com/parts/LUN-00061/

These are the springs that are recommended for the cam...and every other cam they sell for the 302..says their online catalog.

These are the springs I was looking at for the comp cam I was gonna get.

The comp springs have a little more spring pressure than the lunati's but the cams are pretty much the same on paper except for the duration. Would the extra spring pressure be better or would the recommended springs be better?

Yup, hence the reason I am looking at flat tappet cams.

well in that case... roller cam, link bar lifters, and nice heavy duty springs

The link bars alone cost more than it would to get a roller block and swap everything over.

Anyone else??????

if you plan to try and spin some rpm , I'd go with the heavier rate but first what cam is it?? specs??

I would go with what Lunati recommends if for no other reason than what the bind hieght is.

Thanks adder, I was gonna go with what lunati recommends for its own cam until I seen that its the same springs for all their cams basically. I already have all the parts picked out for the comp springs so I think I will end up going with those. With the binding rates on both I still have a good ways to go before I would really have to worry about that being a problem.

I also read in one book that having too much spring pressure can/will damage stock stamped rockers. Then again I have also heard of people running them all the time.

Open pressure
Lunatis are 250lbs at .500 lift
Comps are 284lbs at .500 lift

How much spring pressure do you think the stock ones can handle?? RR would be great but are out of my budget.

it is very true. the stock rockers are complete pieces of crap.

I hope you do realize that changing out your cam also means you will need new lifters. and once you get the cam installed, you are going to have to re-check PR length and PtV clearance.

If you find that you need 6.250" pushrods, let me know... I have a set of chromeoly TFS pushrods that I cant use anymore...
