Default Choking up the engine

I heard from some guy that was intrigued with my car that there is alot of things choking up my 1991 5.0 LX, he claimed removing these parts would increase HP and make it louder. Now I'm wondering if anyone here can shed some light on what he might have been talking about, even if its just a website telling me how to do it. Thanks guys!

first what is your current set uo and what did he say was choking it up?? also noise is a by product of the exhaust used, do we care about power or noise?? power wins races noise is just a crowd pleaser.

Well i'd rather have power, and the guy didn't say what was really what it was other than the factory put it in for emissions or something, sorry I'm not giving you much to work with

first place to uncork some power is from the headers back, remove stock headers, stock h-pipe and catback in favor of a performance set up, then mods such as gears to wake it up, after that , heads, cam and intake and suporting mods such as throttle body, mass air meter and CAI,
