Default Fun with timing!!!

After 2 months of this darn car running rich and backfiring I've decided to try and find out where the car stands timing wise. Only problem is I can't seem to find a mark or a pointer in order to see what it's set at. I know in my Bronco (351w) it has an actual pointer above the balancer but the stang does not. Can anyone tell/show me (pics preferable) what i can use to set the timing.

Thanks in advance for any input.

The pointer is down in the area w/ the white marking and the no's are on the crank. You may have to wire brush it to see the no's.

I knew the pointer was gone. I knew at some point there had to be a pointer. Now why in the heck would someone remove it. Just doesn't make any sense none the less I've already ordered a new one from CJponyparts. Atleast now I know I'm not crazy. Thank you for the awesome reply pics and all.
