Floor pan instal
Hey, just bought new floor pans for both sides any tips on putting them in other then move all wires and lines out the way? never installed a floor pan, should i buttweld or lap weld? seam sealer? any tips thanks
A 1/4" lap is what I've always done. Once you get everything grinded clean and fitting nice, use some self tapping screws to draw everything tight and start welding from above. Brush on some Chassis Saver paint or POR-15 to coat both sides, then run some seam sealer around the underbody joint and spray bomb it all black.
i did the pass side. i cut my new pan in half just did a half pan. so i dropped in marked it and cut it out. i left about a 1/8lip in the front and but welded the back ill try and post some b4 and afters.
Depends on if you are going for a 100% factory look or not. If you are just repairing it and don't care if it looks perfect, just lap it and seam seal it, otherwise you will need to do a lot of fitting and butt weld it.
yea i would like a factory look but hey who care im the one looken at it and itll be coverd by carpet and under body coating so i did the best i can. this was like my 5th time welding.im trying to figure out how to post a pic lol
