Throttle locking up?
Hey guys. Sorry I haven't been around lately, but I've been in Afghanistan for the past 6 months, and yes, I'm still here.
Anyway, my wife has been cranking my car and just driving in to the store just to keep it up. She told me that lately when she pulls out of the neighborhood, she'll get into about 3rd gear, then the RPMs go way up and won't come down no matter what she does. Then she says she just trys to coast it back home with the RPMs still up.
The only thing I can figure is that the trottle plate on the TB is sticking somehow. I had this problem when I initially put the new TB on it. The cable housing bolt wasn't long enough, so I had to put one from an F350 on there. Its a PP 70mm. That was like 2 years ago, so maybe the spring is bad, or the bolt needs to be messed with. I'm not really sure, since I can't be there to look at it.
I go on leave next week, so I'm going to give it a gander. Just wanted to see what ideas yall got.
Thanks

Either the spring broke, there is something obstructing the linkage from going back to idle position (the bolt maybe), or possibly something got sucked into the throttle body causing it to stick open(highly doubt it but have seen it). Did you wife say if the pedal went back to its regular position or not?
yeah, the pedal was fine. it wasn't sticking at all. I really need to see it for myself. She basically just said she'll be driving and the RPMs will stick at like 5k. Then she freaks out and just tries to get it home. She says that it doesn't happen in the neighborhood, only when she pulls out and gets into 3rd or 4th gear.
