Default 70mm BBK TB, 70mm MAF, 19lb injectors?

Hi guys - In the process of getting back to a 5.0 conversion in a 67 Mustang coupe that has been sitting for a couple of years.

Question: I have a new 70mm BBK throttle body, a used 70mm MAF, and new Ford Racing 19 lb injectors. Are there any isssues using the stock sized injectors with the 70mm parts mentioned? Will it run fine, or will I have issues?

It will be hooked up to a stock ECM for an AOD transmission. (also in the car now)

Thanks in advance for your replies!

Dan

As long as the 70mm MAF is calibrated for a set of 19lb injectors it should be just fine.

that's the set up i have. the maf is from an sn95.runs good. they say it's good till about 325 hp. i have heads and cam though so it might actually slow you down on a stock motor.

Thanks for the feedback! I've done some more research last night.

The 70mm MAF (F4SF-12B579-AA, AFH70-02A) is from a 1994 Thunderbird 3.8 wo/supercharger. So it looks like I may need to find another one to use.

I have also read that the MAF electronics are generally the same, but the "sample tubes" are what determines the size injectors it's set up for use. CJs Pony Parts, Summit Racing, etc. sell them (sample tubes) for between $31-$36.00. There are two "torx" heady type screws inside the MAF holding a plate. I assume they are located there. But, a normal torx head tool doesn't fit, as there is a "point" sticking out from the middle of the head on both screws, that prevents a normal torx head from fitting in there.

Some more research I guess....

the maf will probably work.mine is from a 3.8 sn95 .i had a list on what maf's will fit but can't find it. i know crown vic 4.6,and 3.8 stangs all use the 70 mm maf for 19's. they all plug in but air filter needs some adapting. the torx screws on top are a standard size but are called tamper proof and can be found in bit sets everywere. so if your maf has the same connector it will work.

you need a "security" torx ... can get a whole set of security bits at harbor freight for like $5

use the stock sensor off the stock maf... the sample tubes are for aftermarket maf's... stockers have a diff sensor altogether

I have the 1994 5.0, and went out with a friend to look at motor swaps for his old mustang. Found a guy who's goin to be selling me some parts fro his old 5.0, and he mentioned something along the lines of 30 lbs injectors for boost, maybe 24's will do you fine, but look into it more. My orginal plan was heads, cam, MAF, intake manifold, 30lbs injectors, and the guy told me to save 30's for blower only, instead stay at 24. Impretty new so im asking around as well. but the one instance ive experienced, the guy warned to have 30 lbs for boosted 5.0 motors.

please dont speculate so much... you still have alot to learn before you should be giving advise.

A 4.6l crown vic maf uses a different transfer function and should NOT be used in a 5.0 mustang. the SN-95 5.0 and 3.8's all used the SAME maf

do not use that maf. it will cause you nothing but trouble
also, forget everything you think you know about sample tubes and the such. dont assume ANYTHING, as most people spread BAD information.

you really need to learn the difference between "calibrated" maf's, and stock maf's.

OP. end of story, go buy a 94-95 maf. Doesnt matter if its a 5.0, gt, cobra, or 3.8.. its the same maf, its a good maf, its a reliable maf... and they are cheap. the only thing you need is a "maf adapter" so you can connect a filter to it.
