Default tps gasket

I was told that on some 5.0s you can take the two screws of the tps and remove the triangle shaped gasket. They also said if you replace the gasket with one that is cut for the whole plate it can give you "carb-like" response. Has anyone heard of this? I was told your car can backfire sometimes though.
