Default another idle ??????

my 87 gt just started idling really high when it warms up. idles fine cold but once its fully warmed the idles goes to 1800rpms. i checked vacuum leaks, cleaned the salt and pepper shakers, and TPS voltage. this started after i degreased the motor with very low pressure. what should i check next, its only when the motor is warm????

quik, i know we have our diff opinions but i do respect your input. anyways, i cleaned my act a few weeks ago, and checked the ohms on it. it checked out fine. i pulled the S&P shakers apart yesterday and cleaned them with electical apparatus cleaner, bent all the female fittings together a little and dielectric greased both. i also checked for vacuum leaks with starting fluid, i also cleaned the iac a couple weeks ago. and set the TPS voltage. im completely lost as to what to check now. it didnt have a problem until after i degreased the motor.

when you degreased the motor did you have it running when you rised it off? ive heard nightmares occuring when doing it with motor off.

with it having the issue when warming up id have to say something when it gets pasted teh cold loop mode.
by any chance did you get moisture over by the harness that goes into the firewall? how about getting the electronics wet for the MAF. any moisture in the Dist.

go over and check all sensors on the motor that help control the operating temp. things that affect A/F

my car is still SD so its nothing to do with maf, but i didnt have the car running, i sprayed it down with the degreaser(everywhere) let it sit for about 5mins, then with the water hose(no end on it, so barely any pressure) i washed it down (everything). let it set for a few hours then cranked it up and it ran fine, but thats b/cause i didnt let it go into open loop. anyways, ive checked pretty much every connection except the injectors. ive checked for vacuum leaks about a dozen times and found nothing. the problem is erratic, today it never got over 90° outside so the motor never got over 175° and it never did it. then tonight it was even cooler and it started doing it but only up to 1200rpms instead of the normal 1800rpms. anyways, thanks for the help, got anymore suggestions let me know.

back where the MAP sensor is check to see if all the fitings are on. next tiem you do that make sure to run the motor while washing it off and its better to high pressure it. that way it gets all the **** off it. also depending on the age of parts and the strenght of the degreaser it coudl of ate some of hte lines. did you check the dist see if any moisture was in there. see if you got moisture in the coil. also see there is any water in the tb or the air ducting. maybe some water got in there. maybe it will cure itself in the next few days

thanks quik, anyways, it seems to be slowly going away, and straightening out by itself, so maybe it was just a wet connection and its drying out. well, i will let yall know if it comes back.
