Default 5.0 EXPERTS NEEDED

Well folks heres the issue. I have a 94 gt 5 spd, and well the power diffenetly isnt there, like it should be. When i ride in my brothers 95 gt it is a load faster. When he got the car he had the probelm of no power further up in the rpms. Currently the probelm i have but slitly different. He had his Mass air flow sensor changed and most of the porbelm went awya but still has a little spark knock to it. Well now im stuck witht he same probelm such as no power abouve 3500 rpm and also severe spark knock at times. Does ne one know the probelm or know a few things i could personally check out. Any adivce would be amazing. Thanks in advance. OH i almost forgot took it to autozone and i have like 5 codes that said im runnign lean.

Running lean will/can make it detonate. Do you have a K&N or similar type filter? If so the oil from the filter may be contaminating your MAF, clean the MAF and see what happens. Also where is you timing set? Too much advance will cause pinging or you might have bad fuel. Basicly there are a bunch of things it could be, fortunatly it won't cost much to find out what it is. Remember also that a 94 GT is one of the slowest Stangs ever made, stock or even with some bolt-ons they are absolute turds, I should know I own one

evrerything is stock on the engine intake and all, timming im not sure about, is the only reason the 94 is so slow is because of the intake being pinched to fit the strut tower brace, what are the major differneces between the 94 and 95 if ne?

man, everyone blames any kind of problem on the O2s, the fact is the O2 sensors have no bearing on WOT performance. you have a problem with the maf most likely, but you should also check the timing, and the fuel pressure.

To my knowlage they are the same, there might be minor differances in the trim and side molding, but mechanicly they are the same. Give me a minute and I will find out for sure.

*EDIT I found out they are the same.

on my 95, I had a similar prob and I found out that one of my spark plug wires were melting under the intake manifold. I changed the whole set of wires. Then I had the same problem again and 2 of my spark plug wires were fried. They were the 9mm Ford Racing wires. So, I think I might get some MSD wires.

with a fried wire its going to cause more than a "lack of power". many times people complain of a "lack of power" after driving a car for a while, its just not as exciting when you've slammed the pedal everyday for a year. if this isnt your case then do a full tune up, add a K&N, check the timing, probably have to bring it down a tad, and if that doesnt make a differance clean the maf, and ACTS, and if you really dont notice a diff after all that, buy a blower.
