OK...new info...took the dampener back off today. There is nothing stopping it inside the shaft. The only problem I see is the timing chain gear that sits in behind the dampener is stopping it from going all the way in. How is this possible? It's literally about 1/4" from being all the way in. Again, it's the timing gear that sits behind the dampener that's stopping it from going all the way in, nothing else, the dampener is an OEM replacement, it's NOT a professional products!!! It's exactly like my stock dampener in every way. If anybody had a pic of their engine after they removed the dampener it would be very helpful. I can supply one tomorrow if needed but not much to look at except the shaft and key way.

the timing gear simply slides onto the crankshaft, over the keyway. if its sticking out, make sure it's lined up corrected on the keyway, then just tap it back a bit.
