Default PTV issues

so i have a stock cam stock pushrod length but new 1.7 rr's. i checked ptv and there is not enough clearance... the two spots at the top of the valves pushed the clay so thin it is transparent. i could not even get the clay off to measure it but it is def to close. the headgasket is a stock thickness used 2 modified lifters. would a thicker headgasket or shorter pushrods help? the heads have been milled and i think the previous owner also had them milled bc there is almost no material from the valve to the deck. one valve may even may be higher than the deck by a hair. help! thanks mike

There should be plenty of room. My questions would be:
Are you still using stock pushrods?
Did you degree the cam?
What method did you use to check PTV?

What size valves are in those performer heads?
You shouldn't be having this issue.
