Default V-8’s v/s 4 bangers

four bangers need some type of forced induction to become fast enough to compete. NA costs to much in those types. so ppl go to turbos with nitrous or a blower with nitrous or just a s**tload of nitrous. and the true racers of the imports dont have all that bulls**t on their cars as in the movies. i know of 4 rides right now all in the 11s or 12s with not much money into them. if you dont believe me go to Pittspeed.com. and look for names like Vaportrail[has a naked type R with a turbo]brokeasskoren[elcispe with a turbo]rusty240z[nissan 240zx turbo] and vw16cabby[cabby with a turbo][the cabby being the cheapest built running high 12s built for like 3gs total]

No clue what part. I think he's still in Georgia visiting his inlaws before leaving though.
He's getting some pimp version of the STi when he gets over there. Spec C or something. Subaru Impreza WRX STi Spec C. Stupidass long names.
But it's red and fast as hell. I think from the factory it's supposed to have ~350hp. He said he's not going to monkey with it, just leave it stock.

I'm with Shaggy... Either the car isn't being driven properly or it's got some serious mechanical issues. You should be dusting that time, and killing that 4 banger. I blew the doors off of a Type R Integra.... No offense, but you need to learn to drive or take the car to the shop to have an evaluation. Just my $.02

NO. he just has a f'ing fortune in his car. it's fast and i hate hondas so don't think i'm just talking. this is my 9th stang and all have ran into the mid 8's. we are at 5023 feet above sea level by the way. that is a factor if you live in a flatland where the air is denser. my car would probably run a 8.20's all day. at 2000 feet above sea level.</P>

its probably the fastest honda on all motor within 100 miles. and don't overlook the elevation thing. do the math. worst place in the universe to run a car. humidity, barametric pressure and all that stuuf suuuuuuucks.</P>

Honestly, I'm probably going with a 4 banger as a project car. Yes, as a PROJECT car.

I'm looking around right now for an old school turbo dodge, preferably an Omni. Reason being is parts are rediculously cheap, the chassis's light as hell, and you can make 250 horses very easily, and still have around 275-300 ft lbs of torque going through one hell of a beefy tranny.

Maybe some day when I can afford a V8 as a play thing/turned daily driver, I'll do it.

it actually doesn't take much to get a honda into the 8's 1/8th mile. i've got a crx that i can ALMOST guarantee mid 8's out of. if not, then high 8's. i'm with jeep here, i just can't afford to do much to my stang and keep it daily driven...mainly because it eats gas, unlike the rex which can run an entire week (if not more)on a $12 fill-up. building an import can get expensive as hell compared to a domestic V8, unless you know what to do and where to look. i've custom made everything for my rex, right down to the solid motor mounts (well...i had a buddy make those). the turbo kit is going to cost me no more than 2k (EVERYTHING..IC, electronic boost controller, turbo, piping, BOV...everything) and HOPEFULLY get me into the 7's (not sure what that is 1/4 mile). the only reason i still have the stang is it's just more fun to drive as it doesn't sound so much like my lawnmower. <edited><editID>FiveOhNo</editID><editDate>37980.5448611111</editDate></edited>

idont like 4 bangers. nothing compares to the sound of a thumpy v8 with loud mufflers. i hate the sound of a 4 banger. there are a lot of force-induction 4 bangers out but most v8s are n/a.so if you are racing a ricer he is most likely forceinducted and we still beat them!! that is why there is no replacement for displacement. so if a ricer is beating you through on an s-trim and show him what the race would be like if itwas equal by induction!!!</P>

also i was talking to a friend who owns a saturn and he says that heads for a saturn are more expensive than those for a 5.0!! remember that a 5.0 has 2 heads while his 4 banger has one!! so that is why i vote that 4 bangers cost too much to build. </P>

that's because #1-the 5.0 has been out so long and has had that much more time to build an aftermarket #2-there are very few aftermarket providers for saturn (major parts ie-heads, block, pistons) unlike the 5.0b/c not many people build upa saturn</P><edited><editID>FiveOhNo</editID><editDate>37980.8247685185</editDate></edited>
