Default New EGR now idles at 1200rpm

Failed smog due to slightly high NOx. Tried cleaning the EGR slightly better NOx levels, but still fail.
Replaced EGR and Positioning "thingy" and now it is idleing at 1200 rpm.
WTF is my issue?

Thanks all...

On a stock Foxbody, the line that runs to the EGR isn't completely rubber. It changes to a plastic line eventually, chances are you snapped it while fiddling with the system.

This only applies if you didn't create your own lines while putting that engine in the coupe, and instead took all the lines from the fox.

It has the stock lines. I will look tomorrow. Why would that create a slight rise in the idle?

I thought a vacuum leak would cause bad or irregular idle? It is very smooth idle just high?

It depends on the severity of the leak. A small leak will cause a high idle a larger leak will surge.

The small leak will cause the O2 sensors to read high O2 levels. To compensate more fuel is added. More gas and more O2 will cause RPM to go up slightly and balance out at what the computer considers an acceptable idle speed.

A larger leak will go through this same cycle except the more O2 and more gas added will cause the RPM to go above the acceptable idle RPM. So the amount of fuel is lowered and the RPM goes down. This causes the O2 level to go up and the cycle repeats and surging happens.
