Default Power Window Problem

Hello All! Today I was raising the power windows on my '92 LX convertible. They all went up OK but now the rear drivers side window is stuck in that position. The motor is working but the window won't budge. Anyone have any idea what the problem might be? Thanks in advance! Steve.

Just because a motor makes noise, doesn't make it good. Going down is the easy part, a dead motor will allow a window to go down.

The window is stuck in the up position. I think something in the mechanism broke or wore out. I'm looking for an answer to what might be a common problem that someone has had expeirence with...

Oh well you weren't clear on that part. Most of us long time members here are pretty knowledgeable on mustangs and cars as a whole, so don't go throwing your tongue around.

Stuck UP is usually a symptom of a broken regulator cable, but also could be the motor bushings.

Thought I made it perfectly clear as to what the problem was...Anyway, I have some good leads on a couple of shops that specialize in this type of problem. I'll have it checked out later this week...

mattdel hit the nail on the head, even if he hit it rather hard.....

you could do the fix but if you can find a shop to do it at a decent shop I would, these rear windows are impossible to get lined up properly

I took the car to a local shop today. 2 1/2 hours later they called to say it was ready. The problem was a stripped plastic gear. They installed a new window motor gear kit which included metal gears. They had the kit in stock as apparently this is a common problem on older Mustangs. It wasn't a cheap fix ($176.55) but at least the problem has been solved. Also, I have found a shop with friendly & knowledgeable folks. It's hard to put a price on that...
